Tod Machover’s opera Schoenberg in Hollywood is a unique and engaging portrayal of legendary composer, Arnold Schoenberg, and his evolution from Austrian avant-gardist to exiled cinematic composer in Los Angeles. Preceding the West Coast premiere of this exciting production, join composer, Tod Machover, in an online discussion of the development, history, and impact of the opera on May 13th, at 10am, Pacific Time (Zoom). Musicologist and acclaimed Schoenberg scholar, Joe Auner, and UCLA Director of Opera, Peter Kazaras will join composer, Todd Machover, in conversation. Kathryn Huether, Musicologist and UCLA Post Doctoral Scholar of antisemitism, Holocaust memory, and the role of sound, will moderate the discussion.
